Does this sound familiar?

Transitions come in many forms

Change can be chosen or unexpected, exciting or painful, and often both at once. You might recognize yourself in a few of these, or in something that isn’t here at all.

A role that's ending or shifting

A career change, a retirement, becoming a parent, an empty nest. So much of who we are gets tied to our roles, and when one shifts, it can leave you wondering who you are without it.

A relationship that's changed everything

A breakup, a divorce, a new partnership, or the slow drift of a friendship. When the relationships that anchored us change, our whole sense of self and future can feel up in the air.

Questioning who you've been

You've looked up and realized the life you built doesn't quite fit anymore, or maybe never did. You're questioning old beliefs, values, and ways of being, and it's both freeing and disorienting.

A move or a major life change

A new city, a new country, a new chapter that's left you between the life you knew and the one you haven't built yet. The in-between can be a lonely and uncertain place to stand.

Becoming someone new

Sometimes the transition is internal. You're coming into a fuller understanding of yourself, your identity, your culture, your values, and you want support as you step into who you're becoming.

Standing at a crossroads, unsure which way to go

You're facing a decision or a turning point, and you feel stuck. You're not sure what you want anymore, or who you'll be on the other side of the choice.

You don't need every one of these to deserve support.

Our approach

Change can be the beginning of something truer

Life transitions have a way of unsettling everything we thought we knew about ourselves. The roles, relationships, and certainties we built our identity on can shift or fall away, leaving us standing on unfamiliar ground. It’s disorienting, and it can be genuinely painful. It can also be an invitation.

In therapy, we make space for the uncertainty without rushing you to have it all figured out. We explore what’s shifting, what you’re grieving, and what you’re discovering about yourself in the process. Rather than trying to get you back to who you were, we help you move toward who you’re becoming, with more clarity, more self-trust, and a stronger sense of what actually matters to you. Transitions can be the start of a more authentic life, and you don’t have to navigate yours alone.

Life during therapy

Naming the uncertainty
makes it less overwhelming.

For many people, the first relief is simply having space to sort through the confusion out loud with someone who won’t push them toward a quick answer. Transitions can feel chaotic inside. Beginning to name what’s actually happening brings a sense of ground under your feet.

Within the first several sessions, people often start to untangle the different threads of what they’re going through, what they’re grieving, what they’re hoping for, and what they value now that they may not have before. The fog begins to clear, even if the path forward isn’t fully visible yet.

The bigger shifts build over time. You start to feel more grounded in yourself, even amid the change. You develop more trust in your own ability to navigate uncertainty. And the transition that felt like it was happening to you begins to feel more like something you’re actively moving through.

are and where you're going.

You feel grounded again

The disorientation eases. You find a steadier sense of yourself that doesn’t depend on the roles or certainties that shifted. You can stand in change without feeling like you’re losing yourself.

You trust yourself to navigate what's next

You develop more confidence in your own judgment and your ability to handle uncertainty. Decisions feel less paralyzing, and the unknown feels less like a threat and more like a space you can move through.

You move toward a truer version of your life

Rather than trying to return to who you were, you step into who you’re becoming. You get clearer on what actually matters to you, and you start building a life that fits the person you are now.

Change shook the ground. Let's help you find your footing.

Questions about identity & transitions therapy

If it's affecting you, it's big enough. Transitions don't have to be dramatic to be destabilizing, and you don't need to justify reaching out. Whether it's a major upheaval or a quieter internal shift, support can help you move through it with more clarity and less struggle.

Even wanted, positive changes can be disorienting and difficult. A new job, a new relationship, a long-awaited move- all of them involve leaving something behind and stepping into the unknown. Finding it hard doesn't mean you made the wrong choice. It means you're human.

No. The goal isn't to hand you answers, but to help you find your own. We'll explore what you're going through and what matters to you, so the clarity and decisions that emerge are genuinely yours. You're the expert on your own life. We help you hear yourself more clearly.

That's a perfectly good place to start. A lot of people come in unable to name exactly what they're feeling, only that something has shifted. Part of the work is making sense of it together, and that often brings relief on its own.

Yes. We offer online sessions across Alberta and British Columbia, which can be especially helpful if your transition involves a move or an unsettled schedule. In-person sessions are also available at our Calgary office.

Our sessions are covered by most extended health plans, and we offer direct billing to a number of insurers. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so it's worth checking what your provider includes for your therapist's designation.

It's a free, no-pressure conversation where we learn a little about what you're going through and help you find the right therapist for it. There's no commitment and nothing to prepare. Just a chance to ask questions and see if it feels like a fit.

In a crisis, please call 911, or call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline), available 24/7. Inspire Wellness Therapy does not provide emergency services.
