Does this sound familiar?

It can show up in many ways

Children and teens don’t always have the words for what they’re feeling. You might recognize your child in a few of these, or in something that isn’t here at all.

Big emotions that seem to come from nowhere

Meltdowns, tears, or anger that feel out of proportion to what set them off. Your child is overwhelmed by feelings they don't yet know how to manage, and neither of you is sure what's underneath it.

Pulling away and shutting down

The child who used to talk to you has gone quiet. They retreat to their room, give one-word answers, or seem to be somewhere far away. You can feel the distance and you don't know how to close it.

Worry and anxiety that
hold them back

Stomach aches before school. Trouble sleeping. Avoiding things they used to enjoy. Fears that loom large and won't let go. Anxiety can shrink a young person's world, and watching it happen is hard.

Struggles at school or
with friends

Falling behind, refusing to go, or coming home upset day after day. Friendships that have turned painful. School can be where so much of a child's stress lives, and it spills into everything else.

A big change that's hit
them hard

A move, a divorce, a loss, a new sibling, a difficult year. Children feel transitions deeply, even when they can't explain why, and sometimes they need help finding their footing again.

A sense that something's off, even if you can't name it

You know your child. And lately something feels different, heavier, harder, not quite right. You don't need a label or a crisis to seek support. A parent's instinct is reason enough.

You don't need every one of these to deserve support.

Our approach

Help that meets them
where they are

Children and teens experience the world differently from adults do, and they need support built for how they actually think, feel, and communicate. That often means meeting them through play, creativity, and connection rather than sitting them down for a serious talk. The goal is for therapy to feel safe and even welcome, not like another place where they’re in trouble.

Our child therapists are trained to build trust with young people at their own pace and to give them tools they can use to manage big feelings, navigate friendships, and navigate hard changes. We also know that you, the parent, are part of this. We’ll keep you involved in age-appropriate ways and help you support your child at home, because you’re the most important person in their life.

Our process

The Inspire Wellness
Therapy Process

We believe every person holds three aspects of self. Lasting healing means caring for all three.

01

Past self

Honoured

We gently make sense of what your child has been through, so the hard experiences have room to heal.

02

Present self

Met

We meet your child exactly where they are, through play, creativity, and connection that feels safe.

03

Future self

Freed

We give them tools and confidence to carry forward, so they can grow into who they’re becoming.

How it works

STEP 01

Book a free 15-
minute discovery call

Book with the therapist of your choice. Not sure who’s the right fit for your child? Book with our clinical director, Shianne, and she’ll match your family with an aligned therapist, in person in Calgary or online across Alberta and BC.

STEP 02

Meet for your consultation

Your consultation happens online, so you can talk through what’s going on with your child from wherever feels most comfortable.

STEP 03

Your child's first appointment

Your child’s therapist begins building trust and creating a plan that fits their needs. Sessions continue in person in Calgary or virtually through telehealth.

Life during therapy

The first thing many parents notice is a little more ease at home.

It often starts small. A meltdown that resolves a bit faster. A door that stays open a little longer. A child who seems slightly lighter after a session than they were when they went in.

Within the first several sessions, many children begin to build a relationship with their therapist that feels safe and even fun. They start picking up tools for naming and managing their feelings, and you may notice them using those tools at home. The work meets them at their level, so it rarely feels like a chore.

The bigger changes build over time. Your child is becoming better able to handle the things that used to overwhelm them. Communication at home often eases. And the worry you’ve been carrying as a parent begins to lift as you watch your child find steadier ground.

Life after therapy

A child who feels understood and a calmer home.

They have tools that actually work

Your child learns to recognize and manage big feelings, so the overwhelm doesn’t take over the way it used to. They build real skills for navigating school, friendships, and the hard moments.

The connection at home strengthens

As your child feels more understood and more regulated, the tension at home often softens. Communication opens up again, and you feel better equipped to support them through whatever comes next.

They grow in confidence

With the right support, your child starts to feel more capable and more themselves. They carry that steadier sense of self forward, into school, friendships, and the years ahead.

You know your child best. Let's help them feel understood.

Good to know

Questions about child & adolescent therapy

That's very common, and it's okay. Our therapists are skilled at building trust with reluctant kids and teens, often through play and creativity rather than direct conversation. The goal is for therapy to feel safe, not forced. A discovery call can help you figure out the best way to introduce it.

A child needs to feel that therapy is a safe, private space in order to open up, so we protect that. At the same time, we keep you involved in age-appropriate ways, share general themes and progress, and loop you in on anything related to safety. We'll explain exactly how this works for your child's age.

Even very young children can benefit from the right kind of support, often through play-based approaches built for their stage. The best way to know whether it's a fit for your child is a quick discovery call where we can talk about their age and what's going on.

Quite involved, in a way that fits your child's age. You're the most important person in their life, and the work is far more effective when you're part of it. We'll guide you on how to support your child at home and keep you connected to their progress.

Yes. We offer online sessions across Alberta and British Columbia, which can work well for many children and teens, especially older ones. In-person sessions are also available at our Calgary office. We can help you decide what suits your child best.

Our sessions are covered by most extended health plans, and we offer direct billing to many insurers. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so it's worth checking what your provider includes for your therapist's designation.

It's a free, no-pressure conversation where we learn a little about what your child is going through and help you find the right therapist for them. There's no commitment and nothing to prepare. Just a chance to ask questions and see if it feels like a fit.

In a crisis, please call 911, or call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline), available 24/7. Inspire Wellness Therapy does not provide emergency services.
