Does this sound familiar?

ADHD wears many faces

It rarely looks the way people expect. You might recognize yourself in a few of these, or in something that isn’t here at all.

Starting strong and
stalling out

You begin with energy and good intentions, then somewhere along the way the momentum disappears. Half-finished projects pile up, and the gap between what you meant to do and what you actually did becomes its own source of stress.

Time that slips through
your fingers

You sit down for a minute and an hour is gone. You're late even when you tried to be early. Deadlines arrive faster than they should, and the day ends with a long list of things you fully intended to get to.

A mind with too many
tabs open

Thoughts come fast and all at once. You jump from one to the next, lose the thread mid-sentence, walk into a room and forget why. The noise is constant, and quieting it feels almost impossible.

The weight of always
trying harder

You've worked twice as hard to keep up, building systems, setting reminders, pushing through. It works for a while, then it doesn't, and the effort it takes to look like you've got it together leaves you exhausted.

Feeling everything intensely

Criticism lands like a blow. A small rejection can sink your whole day. Your emotions run big and fast, and the comedown from them takes more out of you than anyone realizes.

Carrying the story that something is wrong with you

Years of being called lazy, scattered, or not living up to your potential leave a mark. You've started to believe it. You wonder why what seems simple to everyone else feels so hard for you.

You don't need every one of these to deserve support.

Our approach

Your brain isn't broken.
It's wired differently.

ADHD isn’t a character flaw or a failure of willpower. It’s a difference in how your brain manages attention, motivation, and follow-through, and no amount of trying harder will change that wiring. What changes things is understanding how your particular brain works, and building a life that works with it rather than against it.

In therapy, we start by making sense of your experience, the patterns, the struggles, and the strengths that come with an ADHD brain. From there, we build practical strategies that actually fit you, and we work on something just as important: undoing the years of shame that tell you that you should have been able to manage all along. You deserve support that meets you where you are.

Life during therapy

The relief of finally being
understood comes first.

For many people, the biggest shift early on isn’t a new productivity system. It’s the experience of sitting with someone who gets it, who sees the struggle and the effort behind it, and who doesn’t reduce you to lazy or scattered.

Within the first several sessions, people often find a few strategies that genuinely help, the kind that fit their brains rather than fight them. Just as importantly, the shame starts to loosen. You begin to understand that the things you’ve struggled with have a name and a reason, and that you’ve actually been working incredibly hard all along.

The bigger changes build over time. You stop measuring yourself against a standard that was never built for you. You find rhythms that work. And the exhausting effort of trying to be someone you’re not gives way to something steadier, a life that actually fits.

Life after therapy

A life that works with your
brain, not against it.

You stop fighting yourself

The constant effort to force your brain into someone else’s mould eases. You build systems and rhythms that actually fit how you work, and what used to feel impossible starts to feel manageable.

The shame loosens its grip

You stop carrying the old story that something is wrong with you. You understand your brain, you respect how hard you’ve worked, and you meet yourself with more patience and less judgment.

You put your energy where it counts

With less spent on masking and self-criticism, you have more left for the things that matter. Your strengths, the creativity and energy and big-picture thinking that come with an ADHD brain, finally get room to show up.

You've been working hard your whole life. Let's make it work for you.

Questions about ADHD therapy

No. You don't need a diagnosis to begin working on the challenges you're facing. Therapy can help whether you've been formally diagnosed, suspect you have ADHD, or simply recognize these patterns in yourself. If a formal assessment would be helpful, we can talk about your options.

Therapy and medication address different things, and many people benefit from both. Medication can help with the underlying attention and focus challenges. Therapy helps you build practical strategies, work through the shame and self-criticism that often come with ADHD, and create a life that fits how your brain works. They complement each other well.

This page focuses on adult ADHD, which often goes unrecognized for years. If you're seeking support for a child or teen, our child and adolescent therapy team can help, and a discovery call is the easiest way to find the right fit.

No. Practical strategies are part of it, but they're not the whole picture. A lot of the work is about understanding your brain, undoing years of shame, and building self-respect. The goal isn't just to get more done. It's about feeling more at home with how you're wired.

Yes. We offer online sessions across Alberta and British Columbia, and many people find virtual sessions easier to fit into a busy or unpredictable schedule. In-person sessions are also available at our Calgary office.

Our sessions are covered by most extended health plans, and we offer direct billing to a number of insurers. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so it's worth checking what your provider includes for your therapist's designation.

It's a free, no-pressure conversation where we learn a little about what you're going through and help you find the right therapist for it. There's no commitment and nothing to prepare. Just a chance to ask questions and see if it feels like a fit.

In a crisis, please call 911, or call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline), available 24/7. Inspire Wellness Therapy does not provide emergency services.
